supports hex-literals.
I was so glad when that happened (with various compilers at about that
time). I remember looking at some programs on line, and having the
hex characters do funny things to my display. (I'm sure that problem
has been fixed as well). People would put hex characters right in
the code, which weren't very maintainable.
