OT: Baby Update

Our baby still has a normal heartbeat four weeks after my wife's water
broke.
This link will tell you the odds of going four weeks without going into
labor: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic3246.htm
"The vast majority of women proceed to active labor and deliver soon after
PPROM. With appropriate therapy and conservative management, approximately
50% of all remaining pregnancies deliver each subsequent week after PPROM.
Thus, very few women remain pregnant more than 3-4 weeks after PPROM. This
is important information to give the woman considering expectant management
remote from viability. "
By next week the baby will be 23.5 weeks or so. They are sending us to a
specialist to see if we should just continue what we are doing or if there
is anything that they can do. They told us in the hospital that everthing
changes between 23 and 24 weeks. Still even with a normal bay the odds are
still low. ASlso without the amniotic fluid our baby is probably growing
slower than normal.
Ours has a birth defect and needs an operation so my guess would be that it
still needs eight to ten more weeks. I asked the doctor but he said to ask
the specialist. I guess only a few doctors and a few hospitals can even
perform the operation.
Thanks again for your support and prayers.
