I really don't understand how anybody could stay sane who truly
believed strangers, acquaintances, friends, and family will be
tortured beyond all understanding forever and ever without hope of
parole.
Heck, I couldn't take it if the most evil person in the world was so
tortured. I just don't have that extreme level of hatred to turn
myself that evil.
In the world 3500 years ago, it was probably seen as OK. Leadership had to be strong and punishments were harsh. Simple people figured the harsher the punishment, the greater the leader.
We moved on, but the scriptures didn't, and cannot.
