One word. Bio-fuel.
The bloom is already coming off bio-fuels: the government of Quebec recently
backed away from further funding of crop-based (i.e., corn etc.) ethanol due
to the costs of fuel, fertilizer and land taken out of food production
required to raise bio-fuel input; they are going to explore waste products
like wood chips to see if that'll be economically and environmentally
sustainable. There are quite a few articles indicating dubiety, as well.
Bio-fuel will work fine, though, as long as it's consumed by bio-machines,
like horses!
