I disagree that it's more intuitive. It is, however more familiar -
which has the same effect.
Tool-tips exist precisely because the icons aren't sufficiently intuitive.
And as Howard implies there's a big difference between what's intuitive if
you are familiar with the situation and when you're not. Consider a
statistical package - if you've never used one most of the interface would
be wholly meaningless - GUI or not.
