Some, admittedly, are only similar. Jesus walked on water, Moses moved the
water out of the way so the Israelites could walk on the mud. Heck, even
mere mortals can match some of Jesus' spectaculars (such as reanimating
the
dead or restoring sight).

Moses didn't move the water. The Bible clearly states that an east wind was
blowing all night. Incidentally, that pretty well in and of itself rules
out the RED Sea as the crossing point. It's far too deep and wide. The Gulf
of Aqaba couldn't have been the crossing point either as it's too far east
to be sensible, not to mention that it's the second large sea inlet they'd
have encountered. That leaves the other gulf (nearest to Egypt - my Atlas
is too mingy to give the name) which is mostly north-south. So if it was an
east wind that did the trick, then the water would have piled up against the
west side of the gulf. All of which makes it plausible that "Red Sea" is a
misinterpretation, as has been suggested often enough.

Such wind-driven movements of water are common. Lake Winnipeg, north of
here, is an enormous lake: but if a north wind blows long and hard enough,
the water level at the south end can go up by a yard or more.

This isn't a criticism of you, Pete, so much as a plaint that the Bible
simply doesn't get read, by anybody, really. A f'rinstance: it's clearly
stated in the flood story that the waters prevailed upwards 15 cubits over
the face of the earth, and that the mountains were covered. Yet that 15
cubits was enough to submerge Mt. Ararat (although the story says "mountains
of Ararat"), 17000+ feet. There are two possibilities: either all the
mountains were lower than 15 cubits; or: somebody measured, somehow, that at
the peak of the tallest mountain available there were 15 cubits of water
above it. Both are ridiculous. The only possibility is that something has
been lost saince the story was first compiled, or spoken, or whatever.
