I see you aren't aware of this discovery made in the 1950's. Briefly,
every piece of granite on or in the planet is filled with little dark
specks. These specks are called "polonium halos" because they are
caused by the radioactive decay of small pieces of the radioactive
element polonium. The thing is, chemical analysis of the halos shows
that the size of the haloes and the remains indicate that the polonium
entirely decayed inside the granite. In other words, from the time the
polonium came into existence, it was inside the granite until it was
entirely decayed. This means that the granite and the polonium had
to have come into existence together, within about 20 minutes or so.

Judson, this is your chance to pass or fail. Are you talking about Gentry's
work? If so, are you aware that it's been decisively answered?

There has been more work on polonium halos than Gentry's. I've also
read the rebuttals. I addressed those in more detail in recent posts and
won't repeat it here, but I find the rebuttal "explanations" preposterous.

Let me add that I consider the issue of polonium halos to be in the same
basket with "Bible codes." If they are real, then great, but my personal
faith isn't based on such things. They're also related in that a lot of
uninformed nonsense has been written about both, by people on both
sides of the issue. :-)

Physical evidence won't produce faith. At best, it might prompt someone
to open their mind and make a closer examination. If the witness of the
Bible and believers isn't enough, then probably no evidence would ever
be enough.

Why?

Because of the nature of the human heart.

All that means is that "if the witness of the Bible and believers is not enough" (and it certainly isn't for me...),
then it isn't enough. It doesn't mean I would not accept other evidence.

Any and all evidence has to be accepted or discarded on merit, not on what volume of a particular type of evidence there is.

Perhaps you require a lower level of persuasion than I do?

I didn't say it won't produce intellectual acceptance, I said it won't produce
faith (James 2:19, Hebrews 11:6).
