I assure you, I don't. It was a flippant comment intended to
be...flippant.
I was so intent on making the argument that Rieser has considerable
qualifications as an uber-geek, that I didn't realise I was inadvertently
being dismissive of what you had done. Then the comment about plausible
deniability was the icing on the cake, though it was only intended to
explain why I responded to your comment as though it was not flippant.
Sorry about that.
Tim, that is kind and generous of you. No apology was expected; I was
probably a bit sensitive... :-)
Reiser's file system is a considerable achievement and probably
qualifies
him as a geek. By the way Reiser's file system is actually a lot bigger
than ext3 - not sure whether that's a point in its favour or not. The
fact
that other people on the kernel mailing list trenchantly criticised it
is
neither here nor there - such a style of comment is pretty standard
there.
I believe some of the criticisms were valid.
You're probably right. I haven't looked into this. Ext3 works fine for me
and is installed out of the box in most distributions... and there is so
much happening in computing these days... for example, have a look at
GPGPU.org.
