my guess is that most programmers in whatever discipline who have achieved through hard work and due diligence (paid their dues) a senior position in applications or management has stories to tell... and i am one of those. my nature is to make an attempt to assist when presented with a situation such as you presented, but eventually i realized that the best thing i could do was hang up the phone. sad.
have a good day.
