One of the reasons that I told Doc that I didn't use the word
'believe' is that it is taken as meaning 'holding something true
_in_spite_ of the evidence'.

I wish you good luck with your 'trying'; but it seems to me
that associating the word 'believe' with a definition remarkably
close to that for the word 'delusion' suggests no intention of
using a proper defintion for the word 'believe'.

I do not know what are the criteria for propriety you are using here, Mr
Smith, but I do not recall associating the word 'believe' with a
definition remarkably close to that for the word 'delusion'... but my
memory is, admittedly, porous and I'd be happy to re-examine the text you
claim I have written which has done so.

My apologies for my lack of clarity. I should have written
'Mr Plinston's associating the word ...'.

.... and there lies the rub, Mr Smith. Granted that freedom of association
is something held dear by many people but when it comes to attempts to
converse I've found it best to do as I've stated many times before... use
the commonly-accepted sources, avoid the idiosyncratic.
