Thanks for the feedback,
Thank you for the tool. I've been using it and it has found a few errors
in our (hand) computed copy-book lengths. Nothing major, but an irritation
removed nonetheless.
We have a routine to print these copy books for reference and I'm
modifying this print routine to grab the corresponding NEWCOBDATA file and
append it.
One fiddle is that NEWCOBDATA insists that it's output file extension be
.TXT. That is, if I specify an output file name of NSFILE1.LEN, I get
NSFILE1.LEN.TXT. It's possible for the original COBOL COPY book to use an
extension of .TXT, so you can see the impending train wreck...
It would be nice to default to .TXT, but allow the user to specifiy
something else...
OK, the new version has been posted. It includes the enhancement you
requested.
It also corrects the problems you notified.
Download guidelines:
1. Remove 'newcobdata' from your system using Add/Remove programs. (it
uninstalls cleanly, removing Registry, Directory, and Desktop icon entries).
(If you DON'T do this, the software will still work, but some of the new
features will not be available.)
2. Go to: http://primacomputing.co.nz/cobdata
Scroll the page to the bottom and click on 'View Licence'. The download
menus are now unlocked. You can click on the menu from the Licence page, or
close it and use the menu on the Home page (which is also unlocked).
3. Your site credentials will be requested. Use the same email and password
you used previously, or set up a new account. As soon as you have logged in
you will be taken to the download page.
4. Click 'install' . Download has been streamlined and some scripts have
been improved and made 'smarter'.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Pete.
