Windows Start Menu

Not COBOL per se, but something we are all interested in.
Still with security problems, (which I will summarize in a separate message), I downloaded Ad-Aware. Gave me a full scan approx 2 hours 30 mins as opposed to AVG V 8, approx 3 hours 30 mins. Didn't appear to improve performance and the machine was sluggish. Sure enough, do a Right Click on an icon and the resulting dropdown menu shows two options :-
Scan with AVG
Scan with Ad-Aware
As we know from what Pete wrote these two are hogging the machine competing against one another. I wanted to retain both, (for comparison), but get Ad-Aware out of my Start-Up. I did a search on the Start Up using the obvious phrases "Remove from Startup Menu", "Delete from ...", etc.... No dice, have to search on "ADD to Startup", which gives relevant procedure and as a footnote it mentions REMOVE. Getting into Startup I have 6 items, but no list of icons nor are AVG or Ad-Aware listed.
As a last step I looked at Ad-Aware itself and got to a screen showing, way at the bottom a check-box "Add to start Menu" which showed a check mark/tick which they have as a default. Cheeky buggers. I was never prompted to fill that check box. Needless to say switching the check box off resolved the problem.
But there surely has to be an easier way without going to individual applications, to Add or Remove them from the Startup Menu. I either misunderstood what MS were saying, or their Help is badly worded. Any takers ?
