Is it possible to read/write to an ini file using a tcp/ip protocal file address?

I seem to be having problems reading/writing to an ini file stored on the
server. I am trying to use
Tinifile.create('server1:\myProg\myini.ini');
but this seems to cause 'unable to access' errors.
