Most would, but Borland has shown a stuborn persistence in the last few
years to milk the cash cow for all its worth. I suspect that much of this
is due to how companies and CEO are currently rewarded for their work. If
earnings don't grow each year and if sales don't increase, the stock will
not improve and upper management won't get their performance bonus. Since
Delphi customers are, if nothing else, loyal, Borland finds it much easier
to get them to rebuy Delphi every 18 months, or so, than it is to go after
the always competative MS market share.
