Dang 'em Rags

Well, I'm bummed. One of the things I enjoy is getting a software language
mag in the mail each month. To me, it beats straining my eyes having to read
an online rag. And those ads help let me know what is hot and what is not.

Been away a long time from Delphi. Here I come back, pick up D2005, and
discover all the Delphi rags discontinued a year ago! Dwindling
subscriptions. Who can blame them? But it doesn't feel good anyhow.

When you see these rags come off the rack, it says alot about the community.
The Delphi community is vaporizing.

I first noticed this yesterday when I went to Barnes and Noble (a big chain
bookstore) and all I found was mags on Visual.NET, Linux, and of course the
Dobs mix of C, C++, ASP, etc. etc and one devoted to C/C++.

Do you know what this tells me? Loud and clear that the 'C' language reigns
supreme through all new technology onslaughts! No matter what, they seem to
always have a rag published for them. I still remember when Visual Basic
magazine took a dump in favor of Visual Studio (and the articles became way
too technical on all the supporting stuff rather than on just plain old VB
which I preferred reading about) a few years ago. That stung.

But to see that Delphi rags are now non-existent is demoralizing. Oh, but
you can get an online rag for the remarkly low price (lol!) of 75 pounds!

Dang 'em rags!
