Oh yes. I remember Turbo Pascal, the first couple of Delphi's, Borland C,
etc. Used Borland languages exclusively when I started out in some of these
languages. It was affordable. Today, what the hey? Pricing alone Borland is
shooting itself in the foot in comparison with MS near givaways. I just got
a copy of the Visual Studio Net 2005 Beta 2 on disk for shipping alone and
downloaded a copy of Visual C++ 2005. Sure it's beta 2, but free.

I'll play around with Delphi 2005 when it arrives in a few days. Perhaps
I'll find some use for it to justify taking time away from my other
endeavors and languages. But it's a real drag that it's starting to feel
like a vaccuum in the Delphi world these days. I had high hopes for
returning to Delphi one day and now that I've taken that step it appears I'm
too late.
