I suppose the idea of classes and inheritance is

New classes inherit the strange qualities from the old ones unless that was
fixed in the new class in which case there is a very good chance that you
have to rewrite and then the old quality has been warped into some different
sort of quality and, of course the new class introduces new qualities all of
its own.
