Heyas,
I'm interesting in people's opinions and experiences with changing Delphi
versions. I'm currently using D5 and have about a dozen win32 apps ranging
in size from 1 to about 100 forms. There are about two dozen unique 3rd
party libraries(TPL), of which about half have less than 5
components/objects. I am trying to weigh up the advantages/disadvantages of
converting the apps to D7 or .Net and am interested in other peoples
experiences in this process.
Whether it's re-creating the projects in a new version or the 'File, Open,
Run, Fix error' loop trying to use the old code in the new version, I know
it'll be a big task and tbh it's rather daunting. And that's not
considering the changes to programming style/structure that may have to take
place to use (and get the most out of) .net.
I have also pondered if I should consider changing to BCB, and perhaps
that's a question for another time or place...
So, basically, what have you guys done in this regard and what should I be
concerned about, is what I am interested in.
many tia,
cj
.
