    Thanks for your reply. I don't think I explained what I wanted ... I think
    the servername format is something like <computername>\<sqlserver instance
    name>. Computer name is easy to get. Searching www.tamaracka.com I have just
    found Sqldmo.ListAvailableSQLServers ... I haven't had a chance to try it
    yet but hopefully this is what I am after.
