Hi,
I'm using D7A, W2k, and Bold.
In my office, we are *very* slowly moving to the paperless state,
essentially because paper just has too many advantages and only one big
drawback (too few cupboards).
So the transition will be very long (15 years at least) and I wish to
make an integrated database for paper, files, and e-mail. Since our
bosses have already achieved the secretaryless office, it becomes urgent.
1st step (done) was to organize paper, files and e-mail according to a
single "sorting tree" : a folder tree for the files, and a database
accessed through a treeview for paper stuff.
As a 2nd step, I wish to add (to the database) links to files situated
on a network drive. Where a paper doc record has a physical location
stored in a field (cupboard #n, shelf #m, etc.), a file would have a
hyperlink stored, so clicking on it would open the file.
The 3rd step (e-mail integration) is kept for later, but must be kept in
mind because I will need an integrated solution in the end.
What do you think is the simplest way to handle hyperlinks of that kind?
I haven't found such kind of class in the VCL.
Grateful for any hints
Airy
