Hi,

We are trying to write a Delphi7 application that connects to an Access 2000
database.
We are using Delphi 7 Enterprise. Is ADO the best/fastest connection to
Access or are there better solutions ?

We have added an ADOConnection component and when we try to build a
Connection String we only get one Provider and that is "Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for SQL Server".

To connect to an Access 2000 databank we need the "Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLD DB
Provider".

We have installed MDAC 2.8
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d
-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en) and Jet 4 SP8
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;829558) but there
is still no "Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLD DB Provider" available.

Is there a tool to see what version of MDAC and JET is running ?
Anybody any clues on what we are doing wrong ?

Configuration
Windows XP SP1
Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1
Office 2000 SP3
Delphi 7 Enterprise

Thanks,

Jan
