ADO slower than BDE

I converted my application from BDE to ADO (in Delphi 6)

1- Problem : the connection time is longer.
2- Horror ! The loading of data is much slower :
        - 18 % slower with SQLServer
        - 54 % slower with Oracle 8...

But saving of data is a little bit quicker...

How about your applications?
