Data Aware graphics objects

Does anyone have any example/sample code that could show me how to attach a
recordID to a graphic object such as a line, box or point? I'm trying to
develop an app that will allow the user to draw lines and insert points and
boxes. The user would need to select the line, point or box to open a
database table that would insert/display a row of field data for
entry/viewing.
