A test app has shown that MDAC is broken - it can not create an
ADOConnection object.
I had some confusion whether XP SP2 had been installed. It turns out that
the service pack files have been download but not installed, original XP is
the OS. Tried installing MDAC 2.8 again, Dutch version this time (had
previously tried the English version on a Dutch PC). Installation was a
success but MDAC still broken.
Ran the most recent Component Checker untility (v2.0), and this time is did
not crash! The results from checker say 2.8 RTM is installed, no errors. So
why is MDAC not working?
Does MDAC need registering or something?
The right files seem to be in the right places. The Checker (v 2.0) does not
seem to return registry info anymore, so I can't tell if there is a problem
there.
Any suggestions (bar installing XP SP2 and hence MDAC 2.8 SP1)? Would anyone
look at the checker output and see if they can see the problem?
Dave
