Could not find installable ISAM

Attempting to open an excel spread*** using ado with the following connectstring:

'Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source= E:\Personnal\xcelfiles\GROCLST.XLS;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;'

results in the following error:
OEleException message 'Could not find installable ISAM'.
