limiting returned amount of rows



Hi!

There is probably no way... I use ADO to read data from _any_ database;
basically I dont know what is in the other end :-)

If I'd like to read out a number of data, e.g. latest 1000 rows (og
let's say 4000000), I'd need a way to limit that.
Is there a uniform way to do that, when I might use Access, SQL server,
Interbase and MySQL or Oracle?

The select top 1000 works only with M$ products.
