The exception message displays on both inside and outside the IDE? That's
strange. What is the exception? What are the steps to reproduce it?

I'm afraid not - in my testing I removed the execproc and still got
the display.
One other thing -- if I put my own showmessage (say showmessage ('a'))
my message displays but not the error message.

Craig,
What is the exception? Could the exception be happening in the stored
procedure? Ex. if the app looses connection to the server, both the query
and stored procedure would fail.
