Optimizing sql express

i.ve a sw that use sql express with about 25 client connected ... sometimes
a client show 'time out query expired'

I wish to known some procedures (with tools 'Sql Server Configuration
Manager' or 'SQL Server Management Studio Express') to optimize the client
access to a database like memory, net work etc ...
