Yep... you're close. It's some kind of 'add-on' with the client that reads
the @fax and figures out that it needs to send the email as a fax and
handles it.

There is also some kind of a dll/tool where you can set up a 'print to fax'
printer device on your desktop where you choose that device as your printer
and it faxes whatever you are trying to print... (Lotus notes thing)...

Problem is that emailing out of a delphi app is using the SMTP gateway vs
the client so the @fax doesn't appear to be working when you attack it from
that end. And when you choose the 'print to fax' device when you print your
report it requires a bunch of selections/intervention by the user.

I check the lotus notes site and apparantly there is a 'dll' (for lack of
the correct as/400 terminology) where you can perform this function from the
as/400 end.. but don't see anything like that for the pc side.

I'm thinking that there might be some way to get the gateway to respond as
the client does and read the @fax and handle it correctly... I think what is
happening is that it is seeing the address name@faxnumber@fax (correct
address syntax within the client) and it has some kind of rule via the
gateway to look for 2-@'s and throwing it out immediately...

If anyone knows how to deal with this please let me know... our Lotus Notes
guy is cleaver but don't think he has a real good handle on what I'm trying
to do and not having a lot of faith that he'll come up with the solution.

thanx
