Counting cycles

Hi
So I've been toying with this Whirlpool implementation, and the speeds
of the other implementations were given in cycles/byte. I presume this
would vary between processor types.
So, I'd like to know how "equal" in that regard a regular AMD Athlon
is compared to an Athlon XP. I got an XP, and the closest figure (I
recon) would be from the regular Athlon.
