Detecting multi core CPUs

Avatar has written some code that detects the system CPU, including
multiple CPUs, hyperthreading and multiple cores and has published it
here:

I've also posted a test project in .attachments with this same subject
line. If anyone is interested, please give it a try and post the
result here along with a description of your CPU(s). Especially if you
have an unusual configuration.

If anyone needs it, I can also post a compiled version of the project.
