I don't know who said this - but I've never heard this kind of statement in
any meetings (executive or otherwise) and definitely it was not listed in
any press release or other documentation from Borland.
C++BuilderX is the next generation of C++ from Borland. The preview
designer can support numerous application frameworks using XML based
descriptors for the components, classes, properties and code that needs to
be generated from the designer. The first support in the designer is for
wxWindows. One could argue that VCL could have been first, but since
C++Builder already supported VCL, we started with a true cross platform
design/class library to support the cross platform nature of C++BuilderX.
Just as C++BuilderX supports multiple toolsets and compilers - the designer
can be built to support VCL, MFC, OWL, Qt and others. Maybe we will have a
Code Central contest to let people work on some. It is open, and extensible
with XML.
