In another threat someone was asking something about the cross
platform pro's of dot NET. I thought this cross plalform thing was one
of the big pro's of dot NET. But a TeamB member said it can not be
done with Delphi 8. Why should i go for delphi 8 and not stay on 7?

If this is true, why should we use the .NET technologie? What am i
missing as developer when i stay on Delphi 7 and not go for Delphi 8?
Please give me a url to a killing dot NET application. Because i think
this dot NET stuff from M$ is nothing then thin air. Why is Borland
following this dot NET path? Am I missing something?
I just installed Borland Delphi 8 and at first looks, it does not look
fine. I liked the interface of Delphi 7. Delphi 8 is more like ms
visueel studio. Why isn't Borland following there own path? They
should know what developers like. Why is MS setting up the path that
Borland should walk over?
I think i stay to Delphi 7 and wait for Delphi 9 (or 10). Hopefully
Borland will come down to earth and make the fast tools developers
want again. Delphi 1 was great and something totaly new. Borland had a
vision and they did it! Delphi 2 was 32 bit, Delphi 3 was great,
Delphi 4 was buggy, Delphi 5 was great, Delphi 6 was little better
than 5, Delphi 7 was little better than 6. Linux is/was a hype, Kylix
was not the tool for linux, Interbase 6 open source is a shame of
Borland. Letting everyone leave the BDE and then let them pay for
Interbase. A big frustration for a lot of companies that went on the
interbase road and re-program there applications for interbase 6.
Delphi 8 is the wrong way i think. No one can tell my the pro's of dot
NET. What is it anyway? A simple library of controls? Is it the MS way
of VCL? How many of us are making cross platform applications? Isn't
more then 90% of the PC's working under windows? All my customers use
windows and nothing else. What am i missing when i stay to Delphi 7?
Lets wait for "Delphi 9 just for the Windows".
Erwin.
