Publishing consideration and shelf space is a simple function of economics,
stores are obviously going to give space to those items that will turn over
the fastest. In relative terms Delphi has always been (obviously!) a much
smaller market than VB, C++, and for varying reasons some others too.
In its first years there was some shelf space *precisely* because it was a
new product with new interest and so reasonable sales could be made. Since
then the novelty of a new product has dissappeared and publishing/shelf
space reflects more accurately the proportional market shares. The same
principles also drive job sites and recruiters of course. This same effect
is true of all other products as well - there was an initial hit of Java
books a few years ago that has also leveled off, and the same will happen
with C#, the only difference is their overall volumes are so much larger.
The idea that this pattern indicates Delphi is dying requires ignoring this
simple pattern.
