And to be honest, that's the main reason why I haven't written chapters
for books since Delphi 6 orso - and don't get me started on the Kylix
book, which made nothing :-(
Writing (chapters for) a book takes an enormous amount of time (and then
some), and makes very little money. The recognition is great, but if
you're a one-man company, with a family to support, you actually need
some cash as well at the end of the day (or month).
Nowadays, I write articles and courseware material (which is used for
training, and licensed to other trainers if they wish). Heck, my Delphi
8 training material has already made me more money than all my chapters
for the 7 books that I've participated in over the years (and that
includes Revolutionary Guide to Delphi 2, Delphi 4 Unleashed and the
Delphi 6 Developer's Guide).
Not to mention the fact that consulting (before or after training)
nowadays is the icing on the cake ;-)
So for now, "we" have to do with the free articles that I can publish
(until I've made enough money to start writing for free - or a book
again ;-)
