That's not what the link posted had. It claims that OSS users are
taught not to run as root, and Windows users are not. I'm wondering who
exactly is doing the "teaching".

It was the thrust of the link, so that's what I commented on. I expect
given enough motivation (read: many more desktop users to target)
hackers would try to find more ways to exploit Linux.
