Get the "biggest" laptop you can afford. I have a Dell Inspiron and I am
extremely happy with it. I bought 3 hot-swappable harddrives, detachable
floppy drive and extra hotswapple CDRom drive when I bought the laptop. I
also bought 3 docking stations for the laptop. This is important.
I never have the feeling that I will damage the laptop, as it is always
completely protected by the docking station, no matter where I go. I have
two permanent docking stations at locations I am usually at, and then I
have one floating docking station for consulting needs. I have rarely used
the laptop's monitor or mousepad/keyboard. I treat is as a desktop
computer. Thus, its in pristine condition after about 2 and a half years...
