I don't think VS.Net is very sluggish at all. It actually loads on my
computer faster than Delphi 7 does. Once it is loaded, it works (at least to
me) very nicely UNTIL you access the help system (MSDN), which is pretty
slow. However, it is quite a bit more "help" than Borland ever had in any of
their products. So it's a good tradeoff as far as I'm concerned.
That aside, I question whether it would not have been a better idea to offer
Delphi as a language inside of VS.Net, and then offered their other
technology as addons. I just don't know how many people (except for many of
us) who are going to spring for a new IDE. In other words, will Borland be
able to attract any new customers to this IDE? I would be surprised if they
did.
Don't get me wrong; I'll be buying the new version of Delphi, but will they
be able to gain much of the market?
