    I don't know if they should use the *same* stragety as MS, Sun, or IBM, but
    they must use *some* strategy to bring new users into the pipeline. The
    only alternative is to sell more and more stuff to fewer and fewer people.
    That strategy leads to turning out the lights in a few years.

    It's not unreasonable to use the same strategy, on a smaller scale matching
    their capability. I wouldn't dismiss the idea so quickly. But, regardless,
    they really need to make it easier and more attractive to get new users
    onboard. Converting users of other products (VB is a good example) makes a
    lot of sense in the short and mid-term. Even then, they will eventually
    need to feed the pipeline with new blood.
