(OT) PowerArchiver 7-Zip Compression

Compression tools are probably a little bit off-topic... but
PowerArchiver is a tool written in Delphi as many of you know... :-)

I just tried out the 7-zip compression in the new PowerArchiver. It is
incredible:

7440K of files compressed down to 177K. The same set of files
compressed with Zip (with Powerarchiver) compressed down to 589K. And
under Windows XP's "Send to ... ZIP" built in zip compression they
zipped to 636K.

For a start I never realized that there was a difference between what
XP's zip did and what Powerarchiver did with plain zip files. You get
benefits even on regular zip files. But the 7-zip compression achieved
42x compression compared to the 12x compression achieved with the zip
format using Powerarchiver itself. That's more that 3x the compression!

Not bad for a shareware utility written in Delphi. It seems that it
really lives up the "power" name.

Cheers,
Kevin.
