There seems to be some disagreement, then, on whether the Pro version is
suitable for ASP.NET work using database servers (SQL Server and the like).
Am I reading all these replies correctly?
Not having any prior experience with the above (again, I'm coming from D5
doing desktop database work), I'm finding it very difficult to decide if I
need the Enterprise version or if the Pro version will suffice. There's
obviously some tradeoff in using the Pro version- but I'm still unclear as
to exactly what I would be giving up. I mean, I know the names of the
features I would be giving up, but I don't know what all these features *do*
from a practical standpoint.
Anyone got any suggestions on where to look to help me in deciding? What I
really need is a demo of how each version would work for my intended use.
What about development licenses for the database itself (say SQL Server)?
I'm planning on having my web site hosted- is it standard practice to do
development against a database hosted on the web server, or against a
database hosted locally? If locally, I assume I'll need a license of some
sort?
