Isn't it testament to the good architecture that it can be stripped down
to a reliable core? This "fundamental design flaw" statement doesn't
make sense. I would say that it is more likely that it is currently
sufferring from feature overload more than anything else. They've tried
to put so much in that when you combine all of the minor bugs into one
complex IDE it makes it seem pretty buggy. To me there really isn't a
fundamental design flaw so much as a need for better quality assurance
and the need for a big of optimization of the resource hungry code.
Besides, saying that this is a 3rd generation of the Galileo IDE is
pushing it a big. This is only the second version of the IDE from
Delphi's perspective and it is only the first version to combine two
languages into one IDE. I believe that was the original goal all along.
So they're really only at 1.0 of the Galileo IDE as it was
architected. And there's still a few things missing.
Anyway, I'm hopeful that SP2 will address the little annoyances that are
still hanging around. :-)
Cheers,
Kevin.
