It will probably exist for internal consumption only. (That's
my prediction. If you want to write WinFX or GUI applications, there
will be little or no publicly available native API's. We will all
have to go through .NET.)

The (cattle) drive is to move us all - en masse - to .NET. So much
so, that even tool makers are told to substitute their compilers. Not
since the Hebrews left Egypt has this sort of trek been undertaken! And
the only company that can pull this off is Microsoft. God bless them.
