How to know from whence the surfer came

Is there a way to track how a surfer to a site got there? IOW, is there a
way to tell they visited my brother's site via a click on a link in my
Delphi app? Is info sent to the server that would contain this info (I'm not
a web programmer by any stretch of the imag, so I'm totally clueless about
this).
