        Danny said that resurrecting the D7 environment made the *project*
take much longer than planned. If you read that as meaning it took four
months to get the environment *by itself* then you are ignoring
reality. I say this for two reasons: Knowledge of basic source
management processes and the timing of the releases. The D7 update was
released at the end of May in 2004. But D8 was updated at the end of
January and the beginning of March. If it had taken four months to
recover the environment by itself then that would have left essentially
no time at all to do any actual fixes.

        Hence, I read Danny's message as meaning that the *entire project*
became much larger than planned, not just the effort to recreate the
environment. This supposition is supported by my assumption (based on
spending a good amount of time with them in person) that the Delphi R&D
team are not idiots, and wouldn't plan on spending a month on
recreating an environment in the first place, never mind actually
spending four months on just that part of the process.

        If that makes sense to you, great. If not, then I guess we just have
different assumptions about how the team works.
