This is no problem at all. I assume you still can make an image of
another primary partition? The problem arises when restoring, when you
want to restore a partition.

Ok, this is how I am doing it. I always work from a bootable CD. I have
written a DOS program with a nice GUI that wraps the GHOST functions.

1) I make the image, running from the bootable CD. The GUI supports
most GHOST settings, like compression level etc.
2) I fire up Windows and burn a new CD with the aforementioned program,
which is bootable, together with the large image. Supports disk span in
case it is needed.
3) Then I can boot from the CD at any time, and restore any partition I
want.


In practice, I can have a clean Windows 2000 or XP in a snap, it takes 4 1/2 minute for W2k, one minute longer for XP. I do this, to test our applications in a pure environment.
