Thereis a student edition. It is widely sold in campus bookstores and
software shops. It is well priced (around A$200 for pro, A$800 for
Enterprise, IIRC).
The problem has been that you cannot do anything with this licence (you
cannot distribute product commercially), whreas with the equivalent MS
licence (priced around the same) you can. A student could buy the whole MSDN
Universal subscription for around the same price as the Borland pro
commercial edition.
This has not been competitive for some time (unless things have changed).
There was some discussion of this on this ng recently, and apparently the
senior marketing person was looking at this issue very seriously. We have
not been given an update since then.
