Let's try to separate the FUD from the substance, shall we?
If you want Avalon UIs, you're going to be using managed code, even if
you use it via an unmanaged layer. There is, and AFAIK will be, no
unmanaged version of Avalon.
At one point in time Avalon was only going to be available on Longhorn
(this is no longer the case, but it was the plan in the past).
