Yes, ad-hoc fixes can be risky because of this. The biggest problem is
that even quick code changes require time for debugging/development/QA
and deployment. If we can find a simple work around that will hold the
customer until the next fully QA'd release, that time can be rolled in
to the regular release cycle. Otherwise, it might actually delay a
planned release.
