There are general rules Jake, common conceptions about how to behave in
a sales situation. Borland is very good at that, is very professional
about it, I have nothing to complain about, neither the local office nor
Borland USA as I have learnt to know it at several Borcons.

There is one major exception though, IMO.
And that is partly leaving the moderator function of the community news
groups to outsiders. A moderator and her decisions are of course
regarded representing the company's community policy and is its outward
face, and had I been in charge, I would have prioritized maturity and
restraint, not technical skills when picking people for this job, and
most of all tried to keep these functions in-house and as anonymous as
possible, to prevent any misuse of power and to dam up for those having
an abnormal desire for self exposure and acknowledgement.
